Wherever you are, join us on May 19, 2022, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. (EST) for a virtual conference in French entitled "Ferdinand Hodler ou la mort à l'œuvre" and presented by Niklaus Manuel Güdel live from Delémont, Switzerland.

Recognized in his own time as one of the influancial driving forces of artistic modernity, Ferdinand Hodler developed his work around symbolic themes and the idea of universal harmony. Struck by the successive loss of his parents and all his siblings, the painter made the theme of death a central subject of his artistic thinking. During this afternoon, brought to you by Les Belles Heures of the Université de Montréal, the director of the Ferdinand Hodler Institute will introduce you to the work of this Swiss artist through his relationship to death.
