The main goal was to share Ukraine's experience in building a digital state, boosting innovations and human capital development. During the event, the Ministry of Digital Transformation team shared the experience of Ukraine's digital transformation, the achievements of Diia, work on Mriia and WINWIN innovation strategy.
"All our projects and initiatives aim to improve the work of the government, citizens and the country. We are not just introducing digital tools or launching new projects. We rethink processes, eliminate unnecessary procedures and bureaucracy. In the face of the full-scale war, we need to be as efficient and resilient as possible to protect the country and save lives, to make innovation and the digital economy the new reality. I would also like to thank the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation for supporting our initiatives that have an impact on Ukraine's development today and in the future," said Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister for Innovations, Development of Education, Science and Technologies – Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
During the event, Mykhailo Fedorov outlined the vision and experience of the digital transformation in Ukraine, strengthening the county's digital culture and human capital development. Many projects have been implemented with the support of SDC. Since 2015 Switzerland has been promoting e-governance in Ukraine, particularly under the EGAP Program, implemented by East Europe Foundation and InnovaBridge Foundation. Since 2019 Switzerland has been helping Ukraine to develop a range of services in Diia and implement digital transformation projects in priority areas such as state statistics, healthcare, social protection, etc.
The Director General of SDC Patricia Danzi highlighted the results of the joint work with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and mentioned that Ukraine remains a digital transformation model for other countries: "The digital services in Ukraine are impressive. They provide Ukrainians with a sense of support and security in these turbulent times. Among our joint projects are the world's fastest business registration, the most comprehensive service for newborns eBaby, important social services and an extensive reform of the State Statistics Service. Difficult times offer opportunities and foster innovations. Switzerland will continue supporting Ukraine on its recovery and innovative development path."
Valeriya Ionan, Deputy Minister for EU Integration at the Ministry of Digital Transformation, presented Ukraine's progress in developing a digital state, as well as Ukrainian global innovation strategy WINWIN, and emphasized its importance and impact on Ukraine's further development.
"Over the past four years, Ukraine has undergone a transformation that took other countries decades to achieve. Today, almost 20 million Ukrainians use Diia. From an app with digital documents, it has become a super-app with the most popular public services. The next step of Ukraine's transformation is educational reform and the launch of a complex innovation strategy. We need to formulate a vision of the future of Ukraine for 10, 20, 30 years ahead because even during a full-scale Russian invasion, Ukrainian government and citizens must plan and act for the long term," said Valeria Ionan.
Afterwards, the Government of the Future panel discussion was organized to discuss how other states can use Ukraine's digital transformation and technology adoption expertise to prepare for possible future threats. The parties also talked about how to deal with large-scale challenges caused by wars and armed aggression.
