Contesto |
The EU legislation in the field of control of the acquisition and possession of weapons was amended after the signature of the United Nations Protocol on the illicit manufacturing of and trafficking in firearms, their parts and ammunition. The Czech Republic cannot fully comply to the new international obligations because its police operates information systems and records that contain only parts of all civilian firearms in the Czech Republic. The current non-uniform recording system and the inefficient and administratively intensive monitoring of the movements of firearms provide opportunities for illicit trafficking in firearms. |
Obiettivi |
The overall goal of the project is to improve the Czech Republic’s ability to combat illicit trafficking of firearms. It will improve the records on firearms and ammunition of manufacturers and sellers and it will shorten the time needed for addressing tasks linked to the illicit trafficking of firearms and ammunition. |
