Hintergrund

During the past decades, Asia has experienced a ten-fold increase in the region's economic growth. High economic growth helped reduce poverty levels, but has also adversely impacted the environment. Green house gas emissions in Asia have more than tripled over the past 20 years & are projected to further double during the next 20 years. Furthermore, the region hosts some of the world’s largest (China, Indonesia) & several of the world’s fastest growing (e.g. Vietnam) emitters. The building sector is a major source of energy and resource consumption.

Ziele

The green building program focuses on developing new and/or revising existing green building regulation to set minimal standards for the building sector in Vietnam, Indonesia, China, and the Philippines. By way of putting such minimal standards into place, the program will stimulate abatement investments in buildings. Specific knowhow and capacity building will be provided to improve existing and/or implement new green building regulations and inform all relevant stakeholders regarding the economic benefits of green building measures.

Mittelfristige Wirkungen

green building codes or building energy efficiency codes that set out mandatory minimum standards for resource efficiency in building design and construction are developed and implemented-

development of local skills through training and public awareness activities for private and public sector stakeholders, in order to encourage implementation of the standards-

review opportunities and demonstrate effort for creating additional incentives to stimulate uptake of measures that go beyond minimum requirements.

Resultate

Erwartete Resultate:

drafting new and/or revise existing green building regulations through broad stakeholder consultation and incentive schemes to promote the uptake of green building projects-

piloting and support roll-out of green building regulations/incentive schemes in selected municipalities and/or provinces-

and undertaking awareness raising activities for stakeholders to develop the necessary capacity, which also includes advocating for voluntary standards that go beyond minimum legislation requirements.
