
Ambassador Bonvin focused on the Blue Peace Initiative of Switzerland in Central Asia and presented the water sharing map of Fergana Valley developed by the Zurich University. He also expressed the readiness of Switzerland to continue contributing to the dialogue on transboundary water management in the region.
In addition, the Swiss Water Envoy profited on this visit to meet Mr. Sergei Gromov, new Vice-Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan responsible for water resources, representatives of the World Bank, the European Commission and IWAC as well as Mr. Roman Vassilenko, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Aiymdos Bozzhigitov, Ambassador at large for water issues of the Kazakh MFA.
Ambassador Bonvin updated the Kazakh side on Swiss strategy on water, followed-up on the Astana Economic Forum high level round table and the participation of the Kazakh delegation to Stockholm World Water Week and informed on Blue Peace Index.
