The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation’s contribution provided support to households of Ulaanbaatar, Govi-Altai, Bayankhongor and Dundgovi provinces by providing a food and basic essentials e-voucher with a value of 100’000 MNT through the Nomin supermarket and local supermarkets.
“I’m a single mother with four children ages 0-6. Due to COVID19, food prices increased and it’s difficult to buy groceries like I used to. Also, I just gave birth and there is a lot of needs for my newborn baby. So, I used the e-voucher for my children for their monthly food and hygiene items. Thank you for providing the e-voucher,” A.O. a resident of Bayankhongor aimag. The e-voucher programme, similar to cash assistance, offers great flexibility to households. Rather than giving families what “you think they need”, the vouchers allowed families to choose based on their individual needs. As a result, we saw a 90% satisfaction rate amongst all beneficiaries. While 10% were dissatisfied, PIN will work to improve on the feedback in future emergencies.
