Sascha Müller from the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in Serbia opened the seminar in Belgrade and presented the efforts and support of this country to Serbia in the processes of democratization and decentralization. "Public policies should be based on credible facts and research, with wide participation from all citizens. The voice of the youth is very important in this process and we are therefore pleased to support the GAJP in this project," Müller said.

"For the organizers of Public Policy Days, this seminar is a contribution to the promotion of public policies in two ways. On the one hand, Public Policy Days allow participants to directly evaluate sectoral policies in direct communication with policymakers, and on the other, to remind policy makers that they must involve the public in policy-making, make public policies transparent and discuss their outcomes with the public. This encourages everyone in their community to be more responsible - whether as an active citizen or as a decision-maker”, said Tamara Vukov, President of the Group for Analysis and Policy-Making.

The seminars covered a wide range of topics, and the focus in all three cities was on youth participation in public policy-making processes. In addition, there were discussions on policy-making at the EU level, environmental protection in Novi Sad, communal challenges and possible solutions in Nis, public policy-making in the Republic of Serbia, extractive and inclusive institutions and how they affect economic development, the current state of affairs in (de) centralization in Serbia, challenges in assisted reproduction policies, the position of young people in the state administration, the concept of “skin in the game” in decision-making, issues connected with the establishment of a culture of remembrance in Serbia, etc. The purpose of all these lectures and discussions was to acquaint the seminar participants with certain concepts, practices and situations in a given sector and to motivate them to action.
