On 11 March, the Embassy of Switzerland screened the movie Tapis Rouge (Red Carpet) at the Alliance Française in Dar es Salaam. About 100 spectators, including about 60 students from two universities, attended the event. After the screening, the audience had a chance to share their views on the film. Tapis Rouge seems to have resonated well with the students as it portrays a group of young people from the suburbs of Lausanne in Switzerland, trying to pursue their dreams with the help of a social worker.
The Days of Francophonie this year also included a fashion show, other film screenings, concerts and receptions. It also included a football match between a Francophonie team and a team from the Tanzania Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which the Francophonie team won 9–4! The Fashion Show, organized by the French School in Dar es Salaam, aimed at raising funds for a local NGO supporting children’s education.
