Conventional weapons
The Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons is important for Switzerland and International Geneva. It sets out fundamental principles of international humanitarian law (IHL) and includes rules and prohibitions on certain types of weapons. The Convention balances humanitarian and military interests and has an inclusive nature, which makes it an interesting mechanism in Geneva – not least in terms of new weapons technologies such as autonomous weapons (AWS).
