"We are doing everything we can to avoid a second wave"

In an interview with RSI, Federal Councilor Ignazio Cassis comments on the measures taken against COVID-19 in Switzerland. The Federal Council is doing everything possible to prevent a second wave. However, should such a wave occur, coordination with neighbouring countries is now well established.

Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis talks with RSI about...

...a possible second wave of the coronavirus pandemic:

We are doing everything we can to prevent a second wave.

… cooperation with neighbouring countries, should a second wave arrive:

There is a learning curve in coordination: in the beginning everything is much more difficult when everything is uncertain, when you don't know who has to do what and how. Fear takes over and you lock yourself in. But you soon realise that this is no use, that the virus knows no borders and that you have to agree on measures together. We have now had this experience, should there be a second wave.

...the possibility that the EU might require Switzerland to support reconstruction after the coronavirus crisis:

We have not yet discussed it, but it would be foolish not to expect this issue to be put on the table along with the continuation of the search for a solution to this institutional question. The relationship between Switzerland and the EU is still an ongoing process.
