Switzerland and Jamaica have concluded agreements in the following areas: promotion and protection of investments, avoidance of double taxation, reciprocal visa-free access for holders of a diplomatic, official or service passport, aviation, recognition and protection of geographical indications (AOP/IGP).
Between 2008 and 2011, Switzerland supported Jamaica in establishing a functional and effective system for the protection of geographical indications.
Switzerland has been represented by an honorary consul since 2004. The Swiss embassy in Havana, Cuba, is responsible for Switzerland's diplomatic relations with Jamaica.
The volume of trade between Switzerland and Jamaica is modest. In 2020 Switzerland imported goods worth CHF 2.8 million from Jamaica, primarily cocoa and alcoholic beverages. Swiss exports to Jamaica – mainly watches and machinery and, to a lesser extent, chemicals – totalled CHF 9.3 million.
Researchers from Jamaica can apply to the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) for Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships.

At the end of 2020 there were 127 Swiss citizens living in Jamaica.
Switzerland was quick to recognise Jamaica's independence in 1962 and has maintained diplomatic relations with the country since then. Between 1963 and 2004, Switzerland maintained a consulate general in the capital, Kingston. Since 2004, it has been represented by an honorary consul.
