Cần Thơ đang đối mặt với những thách thức phức tạp và đan xen về xã hội, kinh tế và môi trường ở cả cấp địa phương và cấp vùng. Cụ thể là, thành phố Cần Thơ dễ bị tổn thương trước biến đổi khí hậu và các thiên tai do khí tượng thủy văn cũng như sự phát triển đô thị thiếu kiểm soát. Các công cụ đưa ra quyết định mới cần hiểu rõ hơn những thách thức này và có kế hoạch cho các nhu cầu trong tương lai của cộng đồng. Hiện nay, thành phố đang gặp khó khăn để duy trì đáp ứng những nhu cầu về cơ sở hạ tầng, như đường sá, thoát nước và vệ sinh, và mối đe dọa nguy cơ ngập lụt ngày càng gia tăng. Ngày càng có nhiều cơ quan chính phủ, doanh nghiệp và các viện nghiên cứu thu thập thông tin không gian, và công nghệ đã cải thiện việc này một cách đáng kể trong mấy năm gần đây. Đây là cơ hội quan trọng hiện nay để sử dụng thông tin và công suất tính toán này cho việc hoạch định chính sách dựa trên bằng chứng và các dịch vụ chính phủ minh bạch và hợp nhất.

Can Tho Spatial Information Strategy 2020

Can Tho faces many complex and interrelated social, economic and environmental challenges at both a local and regional level. Can Tho City, in particular, is vulnerable to climate change and hydro-meteorological disasters, and uncontrolled urbanisation. New decision-making tools are required to better understand these challenges and plan for the future needs of the community. It is currently difficult for the City to keep up with demands for infrastructure, such as roads, drainage and sanitation, and the increasing threat of flooding. There are a growing number of government, business and academic organisations that collect spatial information, and technology has advanced considerably in recent years. There is now a significant opportunity to use this information and computing power for evidenced-based policy setting and integrated and transparent government services.

This Handbook was originally developed as part of the essential preparation for a 5-day intensive Mediator Skills Training (MST) course provided to World Bank Group clients under specific WBG projects in the Middle East and North Africa, Southeast Europe, and East Asia and the Pacific regions. It is intended to support the learning that takes place during the course through the practice and feedback, and to be a useful reminder for those with some experience. Revisiting the handbook after the course will reinforce participants’ understanding of the role and skills of the mediator and the process of mediation. Future or current mediators can also consult this Handbook for reference, but it is not intended to substitute a face-to-face practical skills training course.

Resilient Cities in Viet Nam: A Guide for Planning Urban Environment Programs (2017)

This paper has two parts. The focus of the first part is on building healthy and resilient cities in Vietnam. The economic transformation of Viet Nam in recent decades has resulted in rapid urbanization, with expanded towns and cities placing much stress on public service provision, ecologies and the environment. This part has been jointly prepared by consultants working with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the German Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). It reflects the experience gained by both organizations during their long years of operating in the urban environment sector together with the Government of Viet Nam. The second part of the paper builds on the first part. The focus is Vietnam’s cities, and the regions surrounding them, are growing quickly, bringing many benefits but also leading to new and increased risks of exposure to natural disasters and environmental change. These developments, combined with international economic and environmental trends, have led to the emergence of new challenges that in turn need structural changes to administrative and management systems. This part of the chapter examines two trends, firstly, rapid urbanization and changes to settlement patterns and, secondly, the risks associated with climate change and the increasing frequency of natural disasters.

Cuốn sách chuyên khảo “Ứng phó với biến đổi khí hậu ở Việt Nam” là một trong những nội dung hợp tác giữa Ủy ban Khoa học, Công nghệ và Môi trường của Quốc hội với Tổ chức Hợp tác Phát triển Đức. Cuốn sách được xây dựng trên cơ sở kết quả nghiên cứu khoa học và hoạt động giám sát chuyên đề của Ủy ban thường vụ Quốc hội, Ủy ban Khoa học, Công nghệ và Môi trường trong lĩnh vực ứng phó với biến đổi khí hậu cũng như các nghiên cứu của các chuyên gia, các nhà khoa học trong nước và quốc tế. Mục tiêu của cuốn sách muốn giới thiệu đến những người quan tâm, tìm hiểu về ứng phó với biến đổi khí hậu. Chúng tôi hy vọng cuốn sách sẽ là tài liệu tham khảo tốt cho quý độc giả, các vị đại biểu Quốc hội, các đại biểu hội đồng nhân dân các cấp, các nhà quản lý, các nhà khoa học.
