The annual meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council will be held in the Basel Congress Centre at the beginning of December 2014.

The President of the Swiss Confederation visited Central Asia. Political discussions focused primarily on the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and bilateral themes.

The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Didier Burkhalter, is to hold the opening speech at the OSCE Conference on Anti-Semitism. The event is being organised by the Swiss Chairmanship, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and Germany.
Within the framework of the Swiss Chairmanship of the OSCE, the Swiss Parliament will host the organisation's Parliamentary Assembly in Geneva for its autumn meeting.
On the occasion of its OSCE Chairmanship, Switzerland is organising a side event on the theme "The Ukraine Crisis, the OSCE and the Future of European Security.

Following two preparatory meetings this year, one of which was held in Montreux and Valais in May, the OSCE is dedicating this year's Economic and Environmental Forum to the discussion on measures to prevent natural disasters. The forum is taking place in Prague on 10 September 2014.
OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Burkhalter presented the OSCE’s contribution to co-operative security response regarding Ukraine during an event at the NATO Summit in Newport, Wales.
The fourth and final regional workshop with representatives of civil society took place in Tbilisi, Georgia, within the framework of the Swiss OSCE Chairmanship. Under the banner of "implementing human rights commitments to improve peoples’ lives", around 40 participants from the South Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia) are taking part in discussions on the topics of preventing torture, the independence of the judiciary, and discrimination and hate crime.
The President of the Swiss Confederation, Didier Burkhalter, travels at the invitation of the German and Estonian foreign affairs ministers, Mr Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Mr Urmas Paet.
The opening of the exhibition "Making Peace" in mid-August marked the launch of the events programme organised by civil society to accompany the OSCE Ministerial Conference.
The year 2014 marks ten years since the OSCE’s Ministerial Council adopted the Action Plan for the Promotion of Gender Equality. While achievements have been made, challenges remain before gender equality is fully realised across the OSCE region.
